Recipe
My husband and I visited Alness last Wed , what a lovely place and we called in to the Heritage Centre.I commented about a meat roll jar which you had on display and after speaking to Margaret Sutherland and another tall lady I gave them the recipe for the meat roll/loaf which I make and they said that they would call it "Mary's Meat Roll"
We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Black Isle and if anyone has any comments about the recipe then you now have my e-mail address. Mary

Birse Family
Hello, I've been researching my wife's family history. She is descended from the Birse family of Alness. William and Jessie (Farquhar) Birse had 15 children from 1887-1908. Members of the family worked at the Dalmore distillery, Androssan estate and in a barber shop that was connected to a newsstand. I've also conected them to a few other families in the area. The Rofs and the Airds (William Aird was a friend of Harry Birse) Much of the family emigrated to the United States, but Harry, born in 1904, returned to live out his final days in Alness, passing away in 1998. My wife and I are planning a trip to Alness from Los Angeles and we'd appreciate any info anyone has. Thank you so much.

Ross/McLeod Family
I am trying to locate information on Flora Ross born in the Alness area about 1887 married Donald McLeod (gardener) born about 1863. Flora had a sister Jessie. Flora and Donald had 4 children: Jessie; Kenneth; William and Duncan. The family immigrated to Canada in the 1920's to Alberta Canada. Jessie (my grandmother) married Stanley Dobson and had 7 children.
I would appreciate any information that anyone might have about this family.
My husband and I visited Alness 5 years ago and plan to return some day.

Dalmore Farm
I worked at Dalmore Farm with the horses for Davie Ogg. Would love to know how he and his wife Joy are doing. I worked there round about 1980.

Hi
David and Joy are still going strong and out and about . We see David on High Street almost every day and he looks just the same. You would recognise both of them immediately

Thanks for your reply Joan. I havn't been on this site for months. I was up in Alness last week and I am sure it Was Davie Oag who waved to me from a silver pick-up. I havn't clapped eyes on him for over 25 years. If you see him you can let him know. Thanks, Gwen
